Frequently Asked Questions about Social Skills Group Therapy (SSGT)
How do I enroll my child in SSGT?
A. Call 912-748-6463 to set up an assessment.
B. An individualized assessment is a one hour, one-on-one session with the parent(s) and child. This includes a verbal intake with input from parent and child, as well as well as a two page social skills assessment. The assessment rates the child’s ability and use on a variety of social skills. This helps to determine appropriateness for the current group, if there are pre-requisite skills that need to be worked on, and establish goals for the group sessions. This is also your opportunity to ask questions about the curriculum/activities and for Jennifer, the counselor, to explain the therapeutic nature of the group and issues such as confidentiality. This is a therapeutic group whose overall goal is to increase self-esteem and address emotional health needs, more than just a “social skills class.”
What is the cost to participate?
A. The rate is $85 for the assessment/individual therapy appointment. Payment is provided at time of service.
B. Once you have accepted enrollment in SSGT (post assessment), a $50 non-refundable deposit is due to hold your place in SSGT. Deposit will be applied toward payment for group.
C. Rate of social skills group therapy is $60 per session multiplied by the # of sessions. Example: $60 x 6 sessions = $360. Payment is required two weeks before the first group session.
Does insurance cover SSGT?
In many cases, yes! We are an out-of-network provider with all private insurance companies, including Tri-care. We will create the itemized statement for the family to submit to insurance. Simply send in the statement to the insurance company and reimbursement will be provided. It is a very easy process, so don't freak out about the work for submitting to insurance.Medicaid, Amerigroup, Peachcare and other state-funded programs do not cover social skills group therapy in our office. You can also contact Easter Seals of Southern Georgia or B&B care Services of Springfield to see if they can help cover expense for your child.
How many participants will be in my child’s group?
The minimum number in a group will be three participants and maximum number is six participants. If a minimum number is not met or maximum is exceeded, a child will go on a waiting list and also have the option of individual therapy.
